"Fill The Truck" Saturday At Walmart

The "Fill the Truck" toy drive is at the Salina Walmart store at 2900 S. 9th Street this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Salina Walmart store is teaming with the Salvation Army to "fill the truck".
According to the Salvation Army, the event is this Saturday.
The "Fill the Truck" toy drive will help provide new toys and coats to local children in need this Christmas. The event is open to the general public who would like to donate new toys and coats to children who take part in Salvation Army programs year-round.
As they enter the store, Walmart shoppers will receive a list of suggested gifts to help fill The Salvation Army's collection bin. Once the bin is full, The Salvation Army will distribute the gifts to local children in need.
The "Fill the Truck" toy drive is at the Salina Walmart store at 2900 S. 9th Street this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Boy the Salvation Army has their hand out this year and I think they need to stick it in their pocket. What part of we are taking care of our own families this year do they not understand?

Rather than take an Angel off the tree, I chose to help a child I know FOR SURE is in need, and not because the parents were spending money on drugs/new cars/big screen TV/I-phones etc... these parents have been struggling, working any job they can to pay their own bills, trying not to go on any government assistance. When the father got laid off, he didn't sit around feeling sorry for himself, he got right out and beat the streets looking for any job he could find. After the display I saw at the Salvation Army last year, people carrying huge bags out and stuffing their BRAND NEW SUV's with donated items, and the ones hanging around smoking like freight trains waiting to get their free stuff, I decided I would donate to someone I knew for sure was worthy and would appreciate it, not people that think they are entitled!!!!

I am truly sorry the children have parents that would rather spend money foolishly instead of buying things for their kids for Christmas, and I realize, it's not the fault of the kids, however, this madness has got to end somewhere!! If people choose to donate, and can afford to, that's wonderful!! I simply choose to help people I know will be thankful, and I do it anonymously!!

After I did the math, a pack of cigs about $6.00 a pack times 365 days, that would be $2,190.00!!! That would certainly provide the children a WONDERFUL Christmas if just ONE of the parents chose to quit smoking!!!!
