Storage Units Burglarized

Jeff Garretson - Tue 11:17 AM 12/11/2012

Police are investigating after two storage units are hit by burglars.

Staff at City Wide Self Storage, 440 N. Ohio, contacted their clients and police after discovering that padlocks had been removed from two units sometime between December 1st and December 4th.

Officers say one renter is still calculating their loss - but told police that a cedar chest, antique record player and multiple kitchen and camping items were missing.

Police say items removed from an adjacent unit include a washer/dryer set, two dressers, night stand, queen mattress and some shelving.

The unit renter also reported that two toddler bikes and a headboard were stolen.

Total loss is estimated at $1,400.

CONSIDERING SALINA PD uses Casey's as a donut stop you would think they could catch someone. MY QUESTION IS WHY ARE WE NOT HEARING ANYTHING OUT OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE ABOUT THIS CRIME WAVE GOING ON? Is he even alive yet?

Aurora, He has no desire to involve himself in any real police work, he's content to sit at his desk and let the crime wave continue, draw that nice healthy pay check and benefits. I still would like to see ALL the victims of these crimes from the last year or so show up all at once to a Commission meeting and DEMAND some answers on this stuff. Demand they get some leadership that will actually do something. The police dept needs some young, fresh leadership. AND NOT SOMEONE FROM OUT OF TOWN OR OUT OF STATE, a local guy/gal that has an interest in our community and actually cares about what is going on here.

We are going to have to get rid of the city manager Gage first then his buddy Hill. Probably none of this will happen until we clean ourselves of this so called commissioners that are more interested in serving special interests groups rather than the rest of the taxpayers.

Its sad as Salina never needed to have these storage units fenced in. But now with the crime increasing at such a fast pace these facilities will have to erect fences to protect those who rent from them.
