Scam Cost Salina Man $3,000
Dave Foor - Wed 11:10 AM 12/19/2012
An elderly Salina man is the victim of another phone scam.
Police report the man, in his 80's, received a telephone call Monday from someone claiming to be his grandson in the Philippines.
The caller said he had been in a traffic accident and needed $3,000 to fix his vehicle. The man wired the money.
A short time later the victim received a second call from the same person saying his needed another $3,800 to pay medical bills.
Again the man sent the money. But this time he was contacted by Western Union in time to stop the second transaction.
Total loss, $3,000.

It is sad that people prey on the innocent and the elderly. But just 1 piece of advise for others who get this call, HANG UP!

Like clockwork, another victim in Salina KS. This is 2nd one this month. We should keep track of the "Gullible Victims" in Salina, as well as number of days between them. It amazes me how so many people in central kansas can keep falling for this stuff. There is a 95% chance that before the month is out we will see another story just like this one, only the headline will be slightly changed to something like "salina woman conned out of $3400"

It's the same as a friend or relative saying " I'll pay you back." and the hosers never do. If that has ever happened to you, it is the same thing.
