Laptop Stolen

An employee of Automation Engeering says a black computer bag was stolen while he worked at the Salina Exide plant Sunday.
25-year old Andrew Backer of 540 South 9th. told Salina police he was asked to help other workers move some equipment and when he returned to his work station the bag was gone.
In the bag was a Dell laptop computer, Bose headphones and MAHR Federal Measuring Calipers.
Totral loss, $1,980.

Once again leave something like this in a unlocked car and it will be stolen. This is happening because of the complete failure of our law enforcement agencies to solve theft cases and to get these criminals off our streets. As long as they go unarrested crime like this will continue.

Hey getyou, please advise where in the article it says that this item was taken from an unlocked car? I am guessing that KSAL did not hide that bit of information "between the lines". Sounds to me like a fellow employee may have something to do with the theft?

GetYou, I am the victim of a burglary here in Salina that happened a few years ago and it has gone unsolved. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to solve these thefts?? I spent a great deal of time talking with the officer and PD about these situations and I had no idea how difficult they are to resolve. I really wish you knew something of what you were talking about before bashing our local PD and SO. I am not the biggest fan of them either, but I am glad that we have them!!
