According to the hospital, in an effort to protect its patients, visitors and employees during the 2013 flu season, Salina Regional Health Center implemented visitor restrictions effective this week.
The hospital is requesting that visitors be limited to close family members and clergy only. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed as visitors because of the high number of illnesses in that age group. The hospital requests anyone feeling ill or having any signs or symptoms of the flu (cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat, muscle aches or fatigue) to please not visit patients.
Any visitor who is noted to have flu like symptoms will be given a mask and asked to leave the facility.
The hospital will evaluate the incidence of flu-like illnesses on a regular basis to determine when restrictions will be lifted.
