Deputies will work a DUI Saturation Patrol late Friday into early Saturday.

Saline County Sheriff Deputies will be out in force specifically looking for drunk drivers this weekend.

According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies will work a DUI Saturation Patrol late Friday into early Saturday in an effort to decrease the number of intoxicated drivers on Saline County roads.

Deputies from the Saline County Sheriff's Office will be looking for people driving too slowly, crossing center-lines and running red lights in addition to other traffic violations that indicate intoxicated driving.

If deputies stop a person for committing these or other traffic infractions, they may take other actions if the driver has the smell of alcohol beverage on his or her breath, if their eyes are bloodshot or if their speech is slurred.

The purpose of this program is to saturate Salina, Saline County with extra deputies. Deputies will continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speeding, safety belt use and all alcohol-related violations.

Yea waste more money of us taxpayers on this crap. And don't tell me its grant money because that will show how stupid you are. Get these deputies (not the ones arrested recently) out patroling the county not hanging around the city limits or driving around town. We are paying the sheriff for protection out here and we are not getting it. That is why we are all arming ourselves to take care of business. At the same time get the deputies off the 3rd floor at the court house and back out patroling they doesn't need to be 5 of them up there doing nothoing.

Yea here's another waste of taxpayer monies. All the sheriff is doing is milking it for all he can for himself and his merry band of ticket writers. I for one would like to see some tracking of where the patrol cars actually patrol each week. I also do not believe they get to far from the city limits.

Why doesn't the sheriff get that guy Lamer from the police department and dress him up as cupid to help out?

I would pay good money to see Lamer in pink tights and wings with a small bow.Yes Lamer dressed as a pink fairy would just make me have to pull over and laugh while I take pictures of Lamer in a tutu.
