Governor's Plans Defy Court Order on Schools
Associated Press - Tue 06:53 PM 01/15/2013
Republican Gov. Sam Brownback is calling for a fresh round of aggressive cuts in Kansas income taxes and changes in the state Constitution to rein in the judiciary.
Brownback reaffirmed in the prepared version of his State of the State address Tuesday evening that his goal is to eventually eliminate income taxes. But his plan for further reductions is tied to keeping the state sales tax at its current rate, rather letting it drop in July as previously planned.
Brownback's speech came just days after a three-member panel of trial judges ruled the state must boost its annual aid to public schools by at least $440 million.
Brownback endorsed proposed constitutional amendments on education funding and the selection of judges for the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.

Well if he goes against the court then arrest him and put him in jail. He puts his pants on like the rest of us.

A lot of what the Gov. said was good but when he suggests that the judges be elected there's danger of instead of judges doing the right thing, they will make their decisions on what will get them elected. The courts are suppose to safeguard our rights against gov't tyranny without the fear of losing their position for making the correct decisions.

@Iamgonnagetu... Youwillgetnooneever...I am convinced that you are, based upon your previous and ubiquitous posts, stupid. A fine mark of civilization is that we might actually "think" before we "blurt". Please...a little more "thinking" and a like measure less of "blurting".

Gern, I tend to agree with Iamgonnagetyou! Uncle Sammy has done this more than once, when he doesn't get his way he forces his will on the people. Perfect example, if he doesn't like what the LAW of the STATE of KANSAS says, then he will change the State Constitution to suit his plan and make it so judges are elected, thus the possibility of turning Judges into the same kind of crooks as our elected politicans turn into.

GernBlandston your post putting or should I say trying to put down Iamgonnagetyou shows your stupidity from not even able to spell their name correctly to your comments. You evidently do not live in Salina or if you do you are one of those with your head in the sand or one that is high on pot 24/7 and do not understand what is happening. Our govenor seems to think he can do what he wishes when he wishes and the state constitution does not apply to him. Maybe he needs to be impeached.

Well it seems this guy with many names is at it again and has come up with another. But the fact still remains if the gov goes against the courts he should have to pay for it just like anyone else.
