Handcuffed Man Runs, Taken to Hospital

Jeff Garretson - Fri 11:49 AM 01/18/2013

A Salina man is sent to the hospital for evaluation, after running from Saline County Sheriff's Deputies.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski tells KSAL News that 21-year old Michael D. Georage, was transported to Salina Regional Health Center after deputies say he was unresponsive on the street Thursday afternoon at about 4pm.

Georage's hands were cuffed behind him as deputies led him out of his home at 322 S. 5th - when he broke free and ran.

Deputies say he lost his balance and slid on the concrete toward a power pole.

EMS transported him to the hospital for observation.

The Sheriff's Office was serving Geogage a warrant on drug related charges.

Why was the sheriff invoved with this to begin with. Salina police should have served the warrant and done the arrest. Here is another reason no one is out patrolling in the county.

why was he not in handcuffs at the hospital? They knew he was a runner. Once again the old sheriff and his jolly fat men dropped the ball.

The sheriff was involved in serving the warrant because by Kansas state law he is required to.

So you are saying Salina police do not serve warrants as they have no authority to do so under Kansas State Law?

I guess eingram left their post to be argumentive. I believe they can serve warrants an even if someone from the sheriff's office had to the local police should be there for backup since it is taking place in the city limits.
