Police arrest a Gypsum woman for stealing from her employer.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, staff at Wal-Mart, 2900 S. 9th, began surveillance of a female employee after they suspected she was removing items from the store.

Police say over the course of a year, she allegedly stole a camera, 2 cell phones, clothing and an iPad.

Some of the property has been recovered.

Duh! It's likely that she was slowly taking the items over the course of a year. She was probably thinking "I'm smart so I'll only take an item every once in a while" Little did she know they were watching her. Likely waiting until she had taken enough to confirm a pattern of shoplifting that will lead to an arrest. If you talk to loss prevention managers in retail firms, they will tell you that employee theft is a problem for all big retailers - in Salina and in other cities.

Theft is theft and it does not take a year to catch someone. She should have been gone on the very first item she stole.
