A new study by a non-partisan Washington research group says the poorest Kansans pay a much higher percentage of their incomes in state and local taxes than do the state's wealthiest residents.
Wednesday's report by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy says that for the poorest 20 percent of non-elderly Kansans, state and local taxes equal 10.3 percent of their income. For the wealthiest 1 percent, the figure is 3.9 percent.
The institute's data considers income tax cuts enacted last year.
The report also says the percentage of income going to taxes for the poorest Kansans is 2.6 percent higher than it is for the wealthiest 1 percent. The report says only 13 states have a larger disparity.

Why's the rich man busy dancing? While the poor man pays the band. Oh they're billing me for killing me. Lord have mercy on the working man ... Gotta love old Travis Tritt songs.

I remember that song. It made me want to become more than just the guy paying for the band. So I went to work! I worked hard, all day, every day. I never relied on a union to bid for me. I worked for what I got and got what I worked for. Today I still work hard and watch my taxes go to those whom are here illegally and / or don't go to work at all. Guess I'll do my best to support as many as I can.

It took a research group in Washington to figure this out!? Amazing! Do they publish this kind of information for every state? If this isn't a joke, I'd like to know what is. More tax dollars being wasted by those who apparently have nothing better to do. You sometimes wonder why we're so disappointed in our politicians....look no further than this arcticle.
