Police Investigating Forged Check Case
Jeff Garretson - Thu 12:29 PM 01/31/2013
A New Cambria man is bilked out of nearly $2,000 in the sale of a rifle - by a forged check.
According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, 33-year old Daniel Price contacted police after learning from his bank that a check he accepted for the sale of his Bushmaster AR 15 rifle, was stolen and forged.
Police say the check was taken from a house in Claflin, Kansas.
Price told police he listed the rifle for sale on the Nex-Tech classified site, then sold the gun on Christmas Day in the Kwik Shop parking lot on W. Schilling.
The rifle is valued at $1,900.

I'm bothered by the fact this sold this gun to a guy in Kwik shop parking lot, and there was no need to do a background check or see an ID!! Makes you wonder if the buyer is stealing/forging checks, buying a gun in Kwik shop parking lot, at about double the actual value what the gun was really worth---I'm betting he's not legal to own/possess a weapon, sounds a little scary to me. I have NO SYMPATHY for the seller on this, if he's that dumb, he got what he deserved!!! Not to mention, putting a gun in a guys possession that he had no idea who he was, if he was allowed to even have a gun, or if he may be a danger to the public. I hope this guy prays the guy that bought this gun doesn't go and kill someone or several people with it.

Goes to prove what everyone is saying the bad guys can get a gun anytime anywhere and no laws are going to stop them from doing so. Money talks.
