Handguns Found in Search
Jeff Garretson - Thu 11:22 AM 01/31/2013
Eight unclaimed guns emerge during a Saline County Sheriff's investigation.
According to Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, Deputies following up on leads from recent burglaries on W. State Street, found 8 handguns in a Salina home.
Sheriff Kochanowski tells KSAL News that the homeowner gave investigators consent to search the residence a couple of weeks ago.
Deputies found the handguns - all in individual carrying cases. The list includes 3 semi-automatic pistols, 3 .22 revolvers, a .32 revolver and a black powder pistol.
The homeowner is not a suspect in the case.
The Sheriff says they have been working with the ATF on identifying the gun owners, but is hoping anyone missing a handgun will come forward.
"We need people, if they are missing a handgun to contact our investigators to see if we can get these guns returned to the right people."

Must be a Salina VIP or someone in law enforcement otherwise the regular Joe would have been arrested and be in jail. The sheriff knows who he can screw with and who he cannot.

Yea or a relative of the sheriff. Let's hear why and who the person is that had the guns. Its the usual game they play about not saying anything so nothing gets solved or resolved.

None of my guns are stolen, but none of them can be traced to me. The records don't go back that far. I guess that the 4th Amendment is still in effect.

Heard this joke the other day think it fits this Sheriff. One night the sheriff was staking out a particularly rowdy bar for possible DUI violations. At closing time, he saw a fellow stumble out of the bar, trip on the curb and try his keys on five different cars before he found his. The man sat in the front seat fumbling around with his keys for several minutes. Meanwhile, all the other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started his engine and began to pull away. The sheriff was waiting for him. As soon as he pulled onto the street, the sheriff stopped him, read him his rights and administered the breathalyzer test to determine his blood-alcohol content. The results showed a reading of 0.0. Our puzzled sheriff demanded to know how that could be. The driver replied, "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."

Ok, I'm not in law enforcement, but I would be interested to know, if the homeowner is not a suspect, where did these guns come from that were from "recent burglaries"??? How did they get in this persons house?? Someone obviously had to carry them INTO that house, if not the homeowner---WHO?? And, are they looking for a suspect in this? The article doesn't give any indication if there is an active investigation into someone. It does sound a bit suspicious to me!!! So, Sheriff K, can you give us a little more info here? I am glad you were able to secure these guns and try to get them back to their rightful owners.

Once again you jump to conclussions, maybe the person who had the guns was living in a relatives house, the relative didn't know the guns were there and now they are going after the person who stole them. They are not going to charge a 80 year old lady for guns her grandson stole. People hate the police enough as it is, could you imagine if they did that?
