You got that right. My question is the school board wants to combine the positions of superintendent and principle when they had both positions at the time and this occurred. What will happen when they only have one authority running around doing two jobs. Also would like to know just what the school board is doing to prevent this from occurring in the future? Is it reducing staff to a point there is no supervision?

Well you might start by attending a school board meeting to get answers to your questions, instead of asking questions on a forum.

Why it is a shouting match. I been there and done that so before posting that I should attend you should be aware of those that do. Besides this school board likes to do things behind people's backs in private meetings. They also have a problem with being truthful to us patrons. Therefore a public forum is a good place to vent disatisfaction of those still on the board. They should also be resigning their positions like the other two wimps did.

@t--bone So you want to get to the nitty gritty? Sounds to me like the two EX-school board members on the Solomon school board did not have the stamina to take the pressure of the issues that the rest of the board are dealing with. Just because they did not get their way, how little of them. Sounds to me like they need some new leadership on the school staff and probably some new staffers as well judging by they way they acted at the latest meeting. One only has to refer to a teacher at Solomon who left her job because of something, well, let's leave it at that. I wonder who she worked for and who was responsible for her behavior and performance. Although, it sounds like she preformed above and beyond with at least with a few. So you want to air everything on a public forum, instead of airing your concerns at a school board meeting, let's get it on!

You sound like a school board member to me. My understanding is the two resigned because they were tired of the bullying going on with the rest of the board and the new president. You board members are there for th students who are attending the school and the people working at the school. But this board seems to have alot of personal agenda's going on and none of which is in the best interest of the school.

Or the students. I only wish more would have signed up to rid the board of its current members so the school could continue to thrive instead of taking the road to be consolidated with another school. Down at the coffee shop the other day a few were talking about the real reason for not renewing the principles contracts and if they had valid information there should be a recall of the whole board. What I would like to know is how long was the board aware of this teacher doing the dirty with these hormonal guys? Where was the superintendent this all just did not happen one day in the life of the Solomon school district. k3w I learned my punctuation from the teachers at Solomon High School.

GetAGrip reading your statements just what is your interest in all of this? Evidently you have one. I see valid points of the other poster but you just seem to be saying things to get matters started. One thing here is even if it took a while the school did the right thing. We are seeing more and more of this happening everywhere I feel its just the world we live in at this time.

@cattbob Yep, my boss knows everything I do. Retirement is great and I have nothing to do all day but figure how much in taxes I pay compared to how much someone who has an opinion, who does not even live in the school district pays. All the folks that live in Salina and other towns that could care less if Solomon's school taxes go up, but enjoy the paycheck they receive from Solomon schools. So what's your excuse?

I live in the district and I do not sit on my butt all day doing nothing. Retirement is an excuse for being lazy. I will pose you another question. Where were you when the current superintendent was selling his house to this board and they approved it. Since when is the BOE in the real estate business. I suppose you support this action as well. I to am outraged that the board held a meeting at 7am in the morning and I will be calling topeka to find out if they can do something like this. The board president tries to come off as telling us taxpayers that he is being truthful when all he is doing is what we see politicians do all the time that is talking out of both sides of his mouth. This board needs to be changed for the benefit of the district and the sooner the better.

Wow all this happening in little old Solomon. It seems the sides are drawn for a big fight for control over the school board and their past decisions. After reading all of this I have one question that maybe a board member can answer. How long did the board know about this teacher activities and how long did it take them to act.

@t--bone I did not say I sat on my butt all day & where is this "coffee shop"? Maybe I could come and join the group for a round table discussion. I was living out of state when the "real estate" deal went down. Only WISH I was living here at home because that is about one of the most underhanded deals I have heard of in a long time. I understand the ole Emig house was up until a short time ago, still not in the school districts name! Maybe you and others should be thanking the present board for getting that little oversight cleared up and the title transferred to the rightful owner, USD393. So ya see there is a lot of things to can be discussed, but I have to admit, this is not the proper place to be doing it. Maybe we can meet up at the coffee shop....

Seems to me get a grip your interests lie with the board of education no matter whether they are right or wrong. Many were evidently part of buying that house and they evidently are disrupting the education of the students with their wanting to combine the positions of principle and superintendent. If a student has a problem with the principle they can not use the chain of command to get resolution. This is very dangerous especially if the wrong person is hired for the position.

@GetAGrip I too live in the district and you are classic doublespeak... thats political talk for distorting the facts. No one "acted out" at that meeting, except maybe the board member who rolled her eyes at the speakers. very professional. Everyone now is watching their pennies not just you retirees. It is a bunch of crap and you know it. I would never thank our "fill in" President cause he is actually a troublemaker from way back. There is lots of drama in little ol Solomon, and lots of us are tired of a few of you bullies.

Nicely said Cattbob as to the fill in President he played with the politicians in Washington DC for years so that is the type of crap he brings to the table. He is the one who should resign. I caught that board member rolling her eyes and she to should resign we do not need people like these two sitting on our board of education.

Now GetAGrip what makes you think we want you to be a part of our coffee group? We been doing this for more years than I can count and have learned to respect and trust each other. We do not need any outsider joining us. Maybe you should of stayed living out of state but the fact remains many of the current board members were on that board concerning the house but once again like the secret 7am meeting the community was never made aware of the purchase of the superintendents home. I have lived in Solomon my whole life and have seen many superintendents come and go and I have to say this is probably the worst I have seen. He can care less about coming to activities and the limited interaction I have had with him I came away feeling he does not have alot of knowledge in doing the job he was hired to do. I tried to contact him after one of the meetings for 2 days and he was not available.

I for one am glad he is leaving hopefully his replacement will be more community inspired and become an active part of student activities. But your insistance not to use a public forum to discuss things such as this leaves me to wonder what else might come up on the radar screen. The public has a right to know what is going on especially when there are problems like this sex deal. The current board of education are keeping to many secrets some of which have not come out at this time but I am sure will before this case is over with probably in court at this teachers hearing.

No one from the school or the board wants to answer my question in my previous post. Why could that be? Evidently according to a story on the Salina Post the Superintendent says this teacher was found to be doing this in October and fired shortly after. But the family of one of the boys says that is false and the board knew many months prior but did nothing. Who are we to believe??? Will the truth come out in court?? Looks like a lawsuit if this family can prove their side of the story. Maybe those 2 board guys that resigned seen this coming down the pike and jumped ship.

Goodbye GetAGrip sounds like you can't tell the truth either. You said you were retired and now you say you are to young to sit around with old foggies. Make up your mind. I will tell you one thing if these old foggies wanted to be on the board they would not run it the way its being run currently. We would not be holding 7am meetings or delaying taking action on matters and definately would hire a more competant superintendent and not buy his house. We would run a school as it should be run. Also for your information this horse ain't dead. (from my english classes) Us good citizens of Solomon will continue to monitor the school board more then we ever have and if they choose to combine positions they will hear about it from us. At the same time we will watch our taxes so they better not be asking for any increases for a long time.

Aurora don't expect an answer to your questions of the school board or superintendent. My understanding is the school board was aware of some inappropriate goings on with her but choose to ignor it until a parent complained and then they took action. My feeling on this is it takes two to tango yes she was wrong but so were the boys involved. No one put a gun to their head and said you must have sex. She lost her job which is appropriate but consenual sex is just that and the boys should be charged as well.
