Terry Bradshaw speaks in Salina Friday night.

Football legend Terry Bradshaw was in Salina Friday night talking football, family, and faith.

Bradshaw was the featured speaker at the Salina Area of Commerce Annual Banquet and Membership Meeting. He spoke to a crowd of over 1,500 people.

Bradshaw was as “down home” as he is on his Fox NFL television show each Sunday. He began by talking about a personal experience purchasing horses in Salina.

Bradshaw said that when he saw the list of former speakers at previous chamber banquets it was a little over-whelming. “Colin Powell, former President Bush, Rudy Giuliani. All I have is a P.E. degree.”

Bradshaw talked a lot about his experiences in football on and off the field, relating them to life.

He talked about “mirror economics,” or looking into the mirror and being honest with yourself.

According to Bradshaw, everyone should make one good thing happen everyday and live life to the fullest. “When you are at the end, on your death-bed, you don’t want to have any regrets,” he said. And he said,”it’s important to always say thank you.”

Bradshaw said, “God has a calling for everyone. If you truly believe in your calling, no matter what it is, you can be a success.”

Prior to Bradshaw speaking, Chamber President and CEO Dennis Lauver spoke. Lauver said that in 2012 Salina was named the best city to raise a family in Kansas, the best city to retire in Kansas, and the most affordable city in Kansas.

Bradshaw evoked Lauver’s words saying, “Everyday people here can say I live in Salina, the most popular city in Kansas.”

Terry Bradshaw is considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. He was a four-time Super Bowl champion quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers, two-time Super Bowl MVP, and Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee.

After retiring in 1984, Bradshaw became a Color Analyst for CBS Sports on their NFL broadcasts, and later one of the in-studio co-hosts.

After a decade with CBS, Bradshaw joined Fox Sports in 1994. He is currently one of the co-hosts and analysts on Fox NFL Sunday. Along with his football work, Bradshaw is also an author, singer, actor, and motivational speaker.

Terry also attended many horse registered horse sales in the area. He made the buyers very aware that he was here to purchase horses. If they would of tried for some extra awarenes, he would have not returned.

I'll ask the $50.00 question again. Terry Bradshaw was 2nd string quarterback at Louisianna Tech. Who was the starting quarterback?

Logical I will answer your question as I was there also. He misled everyone with his statemeants made on Salina concerning retirement, cost of living and ghe best city to raise a family. Others have gone into each of these so I do not need to. You tell me in the last five years that he has brought a major employer into Salina paying top wages? Also tell me why law enforcement can no longer protect? Finally why the city commission spends millions on art, the bi-center but cannot fix the bridge on greely? That's enought for now do not want to stress your pea size brain.

The starting quarterback was Phil Robertson of Duck Commander fame or you may know as the dad on the tv show "Duck Dynasty" on A&E.

getyou: I asked Lauver after the event about those same statements because I also questioned them. He pointed out the source is Business Week magazine. US Chamber of Commerce and some other national group. If your beef is with the rankings, then you are mad at Business Week magazine, US chamber of commerce and the natoinal firms that are doing the rankings..
