I am so sorry to hear this but last December I started to call the paper about the same thing. There are a lot of peoples that does not use the sign so cross the street! Some of the little school kids does the same thing I told them one day at the light on Iron and Ken wood it was the kids that goes to Oakdale School I told them to wait for the crosswalk sign before they get hurt. But these kids does not pay attention it need to be explain over and over again. And the adult think that you suppose to stop just because they are crossing but the driver is looking at the crosswalk to see if that white man is up or the red hand and they should do the same thing. Because there are going to be a lot more I am sorry to say!!!!!

Maybe instead of writing seatbelt tickets the cops ought to be parked at that intersection giving out jay walking tickets. I don't know how many times I have seen people not using the cross walk including a guy in a wheel chair one time who is lucky to be alive today as he was almost hit by a car turning onto Crawford.

Sometimes you wonder why at a busy intersection like this people do not take more care when being a pedestrian. I hope the guy that hit her does have insurance because her being in the wrong will not matter when she files a lawsuit until it gets to a jury.

I was taught in driver's Ed that all pedestrians had the right away. So in my opinion she was not in the wrong. I don't know how many times I have stopped and let a pedestrian cross the street.

The story said he had a green light and was driving normally when she appeared and he had no time to stop. In a like situation I don't think you would be able to stop either so don't be so judgemental.
