An the cops are out writing seatbelt violation tickets. No wonder the conceal for guns is so high because the cops can no longer protect us so we need to arm and protect ourselves.

Why do you always blame the police dept? There is no way they can be everywhere all the time. If people would raise their spoiled brats better we wouldn't have problems like this. The SPD does a great job! You are one of those citizens that complains all the time about the police...but when you need one you are begging for them to get there as fast as they can. Hypocrite.

Seems to me when parents try to raise their kids right by giving them a paddling they get arrested for child abuse.

Why is the police department alway's blamed by people? Do you not read the paper or listen to the radio? The police are more concerned with giving out seatbelt tickets. If those patrol cars were out patrolling there is always a presense of them being around. But when they advertise they will be giving tickets from such and such a time then any vandal or crook knows that the chances of a patrol car happening along would be very rare. The statement they cannot be everywhere is wrong because the city can be divided up into sections and patrol cars patrolling in each one. Plus they should have a map showing where most of the crimes are taking place as well as vandalism and then put an extra car in those area's. This is basic police knowledge evidently the chief of police missed out on.

I really don't think it matters. I have a KHP Troop that lives across the street and brings his car home everynight and a SPD down the street and my kids truck window got smashed in this weekend also. I called the cops and made the report, but the people responsible for this get away with it. I on the other still have to pay for the window.

@ Aurora...."The statement they cannot be everywhere is wrong". What planet do you live on? Thinking the police can be everywhere at anytime is asinine. Do you want to pay the taxes to have a cop on every city block in Salina? How many city blocks are in the City of Salina? Tell you what, you figure that out and then let us know how many extra hundreds of police officers we need to hire to cover this little request of yours. As far as crime maps they already have that. Here you are again blaming the SPD for crime and not the criminal. No wonder this world is headed for hell. Do you live with t--bone? Just askin....LOL.

I read what they wrote and it seems setyou cannot comprehend. Nothing was said about having a cop on every block. What was said was dividing the city into sections and having each section patroled. Also the point being made when you advertise that you are going to be doing seatbelt tickets using undercover cops from 5 to 9 then anyone wanting to commit a crime has a window to do so.
