Schilling Road is fully open, and the new northbound lanes of South Ninth Street in addition to the old southbound lanes are scheduled to be fully opened to traffic by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 24 in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Numbers of through lanes and turn lanes will be similar to those that existed before construction.
After Thanksgiving until after New Year's Day, the City plans to allow minor construction activities with temporary lane closures from 8:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. weekdays as long as traffic impacts are minimal, but no work will be allowed during evenings or weekends. Signalized intersections on South Ninth Street will remain as they were in the previous phase of traffic control with signals at Schilling Road and Debold Avenue, while Riffel Drive and Sam's Place will continue to be unsignalized.
Following New Year's Day, southbound Ninth Street traffic is expected to be shifted to share the northbound lanes while the replacement of the southbound lanes begins. Construction should continue through the summer of 2010 and wrap up in the fall.
