Troopers say the crash was caused by a cow in the road.

A woman is hurt in a crash early Sunday morning in Riley County involving a cow.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Krisa Johnson of Wamego was driving a car north on U.S. 77 Highway early Sunday morning. She hit a black cow that was in the roadway, veered off the road, and came to a rest in the east ditch.

Johnson, who was buckled up, was hurt. She was transported to the hospital in Manhattan.

The crash happened at around 2:00 Sunday morning on U.S. 77 Highway in Riley County about 1 mile north of Randolph.
