(Indianapolis, IN) -- Royals general manager Dayton Moore has been trying to swing a deal for a center fielder at this week's Winter Meetings in Indianapolis. He admitted to speaking with the Orioles about Felix Pie, but told the "Kansas City Star" the Royals don't have any matchups in their eyes. Baltimore reportedly was seeking a run-producing corner infielder in return, but the Royals are unwilling to part with first baseman Billy Butler or third baseman Alex Gordon. Kansas City is now likely to renew its interest in free-agent outfielder Scott Podsednik as a replacement for Coco Crisp.
White Sox Ink Teahen For Three Years
(Indianapolis, IN) -- Utilityman Mark Teahen has signed a three-year, 14-million-dollar deal with the Chicago White Sox. Teahen was traded to the Pale Hose last month by the Kansas City Royals. Teahen had been eligible for arbitration. The 28-year-old had spent his entire five-year career in K.C. before he was dealt for infielders Chris Getz and Josh Fields. This past season, he hit .271 with 12 home runs, 50 RBI and a career-high 34 doubles. He has played every position except pitcher and catcher, but is expected to play third base for the Sox. Gordon Beckham will likely be moved from the hot corner to second. In 676 major league games, Teahen has a .269 career average with 59 home runs and 293 RBI.
