Salina Central vs. Derby

Sports Radio 1150 - KSAL

Pre-game @ 5:45 p.m.

The Salina Central Mustangs and Lady Mustangs are a combined 0-4 this season, with losses to Dodge City and Great Bend. On the girls side the effort has been much improved over a year ago and the Mustangs have had a chance to win both of their games in the fourth quarter, however against two of the better girls programs in the state, the Mustangs have not been rewarded with a win. Tonight could be a good opportunity for that to change as Derby is looking for ways to retool after loss of last season's leading scoring to graduation.

Salina South vs. Maize

Y 93.7

Pre-game @ 5:50 p.m.

The Salina South Lady Cougars and Cougars appear to be headed on different paths this season after facing a tough pair of opening games. The Lady Cougars are 2-0 with quality wins over Buhler and McPherson. South has seen their young players begin to develop while Sally Thompson and Taylor Goodness have been key contributors in the post. Maize enters tonight's contest at 2-1. On the boys' side Maize is one of the favorites to win Division I of the AVCTL and for the first time this year South's height disadvantage will be evident. However, South hopes to counter by slowing down the tempo of the game with their defense.

Sacred Heart vs. Russell

Classic Hits 104.9

Pre-game @ 5:50 p.m.

The Sacred Heart Knights are off to a 3-0 start this year with a knack for scoring points. The Knights average almost 62 points per game and have four scorers in double figures, however Head Coach Pat Martin would like to see more energy from his players on the defensive end of the floor. Tonight they face a scrappy Russell team that is athletic, but like Sacred Heart has played several smaller schools to open up the season. Tonight's game should help set the pecking order in the NCAA. In girls' action, the Lady Knights are just 1-2 and after winning their opener they dropped two straight at the Herington Tournament over the weekend. They should still have the edge tonight against 1-3 Russell who averages just 32 points per game.
