At the same time millions are ringing in the New Year at time square in Manhattan, New York, thousands will be ringing in the New Year in Manhattan, Kansas.

Organizers say that Manhattan's Little Apple New Year's Eve has turned into one of the city's most popular winter traditions. For the seventh straight year, several thousand spectators and revelers will gather in Aggieville on New Year's Eve, at the corner of Manhattan Avenue and Moro Street, to ring in 2010.

Each year, the event has attracted larger crowds, beginning with 4,500 spectators in the first year to 10,000 in 2006. In the past, the event has also garnered attention for the Little Apple through coverage by national and regional news media outlets.

The evening's festivities will begin at 10:00. A laser light show will run at the same time and will run in-synch with music.

There will be a short recognition of local dignitaries just prior to the big event, the ball drop.
