Authorities in Jefferson County arrested the fourth suspect in a case where a man's leg was nearly severed and he was left for dead on a rural road in Saline County.

According to Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, officers in Jefferson County located Charles Lloyd Barrand-30 of Oskaloosa, without incident after family members gave officials his location. Barrand was arrested Saturday and transported to the Saline County Jail. He could face charges that could include, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Aggravated Assault.

In late May a passing motorist discovered 33-year-old Jeffery Walcher of Salina sitting on a bridge west of Salina at Crawford Street and Muir Road. Walcher, who may have been on the bridge for several hours, had a large deep cut to his leg.

Authorities say that Walcher was assaulted by several people at the Sundowner West trailer park. Some sort of a sharp either instrument, possibly a homemade sword or a hatchet, was used to smash his knee.

Walcher was then driven out to a rural road and dumped in a ditch. He crawled up to the bridge, where he was found. Walcher initially would not cooperate with deputies. But they continued to investigate, and made three arrests.

44-year-old Christopher Macy, 43-year-old Paul Livengood II and 26-year-old Joshua Hearne were all arrested in connection with the crime.
