A couple of teens are behind bars in connection with a burglary at a rural Saline County restaurant.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Sheldon Freeman of Smolan and 18-year-old Brandon Luttig of Lindsborg. Both are accused of breaking into the Hickory Tree restaurant in Smolan late Wednesday into early Thursday.
Items taken include a large amount of beer, wine coolers, and soft drinks. Also taken was a safe, 350 silver dollars, and nearly $3,700 in cash.
Total loss and damage is estimated at nearly $9,500.
The safe and all of the money have been recovered, along with most of the stolen drinks.
Freeman and Luttig could both face charges that include burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
