The Arts Council of Dickinson Countys opening concert of the 2008-2009 season will feature two Kansas Bluegrass Bands. Elexa Dawson and the Hitchhikers from Emporia will open at 5:00 p.m. and the Prairie Acre will follow at 6:00 p.m. Featured in Abilene. Both concerts will be held in the city parking lot on 3rd and Spruce Streets. Concert is FREE

Prairie Festival XXX-- Restoration & Conservation

This is a 3-day event at The Land Institute, 2440 E. Water Well Road in Salina, Kansas. Annual Prairie Festival. Friday evening early registration begins at 4pm, camping sites open. Barn dance 8pm. Saturday registration begins at 7:30am. Lectures and reports begin at 8:30am and a catered dinner begins at 6:00pm. Sunday is a half day beginning with a Bird Walk or a Prairie Walk at 7:30am and concluding with remarks by Ken Warren at noon. Speakers, music, food -- Featured speaker Barbara Kingsolver. Tickets: Saturday: $16 general public, $12 for previous donors; Sunday $8 general public, $6 previous donors. Children under $12 are free both days. Student rate is $10, must show ID.
