Odena Hostetler, 96, of Inman, Kansas, passed away at 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 4th, 2012 while in the company of family members at Pleasant View Home. Odena was born in Tuleta, Texas on April 14, 1916, the daughter of Abner Jay and Elizabeth (Schrock) Miller.

Odena attended the Yoder grade schools and graduated from Windom High School, Windom, Kansas. She then attended Hesston College and Adela Hale Secretarial School in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Odena was a member of Inman Mennonite Church Inman, Kansas, She was a member of the Womens Mission Society and Bible Study Group; both of the church. She was also a member of the West Liberty Church rural Windom, Kansas in her younger years.

Odena was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this way. She also was the head cook at Plainview Elementary School for 7 years and was a supervisor in the credit life department of Alliance Life Insurance Company for over 15 years retiring in 1981.

Odena was a member of the (Service) mixed quartet at West Liberty and sang in the choir. She directed the church choir, youth choir, and the chancel choir and lead the congregational singing. She was instrumental in organizing the community Bible School at West Liberty where she served as director and teacher for many years. She also served as a teacher in Sunday school and in the womens mission society. She was a member of the Groveland E.H.U.

Odena Miller was united in marriage to Ralph V. Hostetler on May 31, 1938 at Windom, Kansas. He died on January 11, 1986.

Visitation for Odena will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Inman Mennonite Church, Inman, Kansas.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Inman Mennonite Church, Inman, Kansas, with Pastor Eric Buller officiating.

Final Resting Place West Liberty Mennonite Cemetery rural Groveland, Kansas.
