John Darling (Jack) Beighley, 86, died Saturday July 7, 2012 at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. He was born Jan 29, 1926 in Salina, the son of Vier & Verna (Paris) Beighley. Jacks mother died at childbirth and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Howard and Dorothy Richter, Salina. He was a Salina High graduate in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army in Germany where he met his future wife, Lieselotte Kunze. Jack returned to farm and dairy near Smolan and married Lisa on Oct 30, 1954 in the 1st United Methodist Church, Salina. He was appointed Postmaster of Smolan on July 16, 1962 and served until July 1, 1989. He was a member of the Salemsborg Lutheran Church.
Jack was preceded in death by a son, Howard Vier Beighley.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lisa Beighley, of Lindsborg and a cousin, Robert (Kay) Richter, Assaria.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 pm on Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm that evening.
Memorials are suggested to the Salemsborg Lutheran Church or Bethany Home, Lindsborg.
