Mrs. Opal Elaine (Wood) Wert, 86, of McPherson, passed away at 10:20 p.m., Saturday, July 7th, 2012 while in the company of family members, at McPherson Care Center, McPherson, Kansas. Mrs. Wert was born in Grenola, Kansas on July 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Henry Lawton and Lois May (Crozzier) Wood.
Elaine attended the Cedarvale Grade School, and graduated from Cedarvale High School, Cedarvale, Kansas.
She was a former member of First Baptist Church, Cedarvale, KS. Elaine was an Assembly Operator at Hesston Corporation Hesston, Kansas. Through the years Elaine was a homemaker; was a House Cleaner for Dr. Hays; worked as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell; L.C. Adams Mercantile as a clerk; and helped managed the Coop filling station all of Cedarvale, Kansas. She also worked as a Bookkeeper for the Sedan Coop; made mops at Zellenkoph in Wichita, Kansas; worked for Kinder Manufacturing upholstering furniture in Newton, Kansas; and was an Assembly Operator for the Hesston Corporation for 13 1/2 years before retiring in 1987.
She was a previous member of the Eastern Star of El Dorado, Kansas.
Elaine was united in marriage to Marion Hahn Wert on December 7, 1945 at Sedan, Kansas. He died on July 23, 1989.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marion; sisters, Pauline Wood and Minerva Bever; and brothers, Delbert and Wilbur Wood.
Friends are invited to call Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 4:00 - 8:00p.m. with family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
Graveside Service will be held at McGill Cemetery, rural Potwin, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12th, 2012 with Montie Church officiating.
