John W. Henderson 80, passed away Sunday, July 8th, in Abilene. He was born February 3, 1932 in Strong City, Kansas, the son of Elmer E. and Thelma Marie (Atkinson) Henderson.

Growing up in Strong City, he attended local schools.

On January 17, 1953, he married Betty Gamer in Emporia. The early years of their married life was spent in Emporia before moving to Abilene in 1973.

He had been employed by and retired from Civil Service at Ft. Riley. He was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Betty preceded him in death June 1, 1989. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Wassom and Linda Pederson and three brothers, Bob, Joe and Jim Henderson.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 13th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Fr. Henry Baxa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery north of Abilene.

The family will receive friends 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the Danner Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Elsie Brooks Memorial Cancer Fund. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
