Mass of Christian Burial for Shane Michael Olberding, age 19 of rural Abilene, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Mark Wesely as Celebrant.
Shane passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 in a single car accident near Chapman. He was born April 7, 1993 the son of Michael and Sara (Johnson) Olberding.
He grew up in Burlington, KS and moved with his family to Abilene in 2007. He graduated from Abilene High School in 2011. He was attending Kansas State University pursuing a degree in economics. In the spring semester Shane was on the Deans honor list.
Shane played baseball for Abilene High School, and for his Senior Project he helped organize the Abilene Community Garden. He loved fishing, playing baseball, hunting, and snow skiing.

Paternal grandparents: Robert & Leona Olberding of Seneca, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Alvin Johnson.
Shanes final resting place will be in the Mount St. Joseph Cemetery near Abilene.
A parish rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Andrews Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shane Olberding Memorial Fund to be designated later by his family.
