David E. (Dave) Oltman, 67, of Salina, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 while camping on his land near Eleven Mile Reservoir, Lake George, Colorado. He was born March 8, 1945 in Imperial, Nebraska to George and Lois Oltman.
Dave attended McPherson College. For many years he raced stock cars (#777) on the dirt circle track circuit in Salina, Hutchinson, Great Bend, Oklahoma and Nebraska. As a young man, he worked at Certainteed Plastics, McPherson and later owned and operated Dale\\\\\\\'s Tire Service, McPherson. He moved to Salina and worked for Rickel Manufacturing as Transportation Manager.
In 1984, Dave was hired as a Feeder Driver for United Parcel Service (UPS), where he later earned the Circle of Honor award for 25 years of service He retired from UPS in 2011. Dave was an avid fisherman who loved vegetable gardening, camping, motorcycling, NASCAR and Nebraska football.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, eldest brother, Dale, and his beloved dalmation, Axl.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 15, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the mortuary. |
