Lela F. Engle, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in Abilene. She was born February 27, 1924 in Thomas, Oklahoma, the daughter of Raymond Landis and Miriam Grove (Engle) Eyster.
Growing up in Thomas, she attended local schools, graduated from Jabbok High School and attended Southwestern State Teachers College. She was a member of the Zion Brethren in Christ Church.
On August 16, 1946, she was married to Oliver Londeen Engle. All of their married life was spent farming north of Abilene. He preceded her in death November 20, 1981.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter Connie in 1968, four sisters and two brothers.

The celebration of her life will be held 10:00 A.M.Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Zion Brethren in Christ Church with Pastors Jay Johnson and Ron Bowell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 5:30 until 6:30 P.M. Friday evening at the Danner Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be given to the Brethren in Christ Church World Missions or the Salina Rescue Mission. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410. |
