Betty Joan Brooks, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Eaglecrest Assisted Living. She was born November 3, 1929, in Salina to Ernest and Amy (Ollson) Larson.
Joan graduated from Salina High in 1947.
She married Dale Brooks June 8, 1951. They were life long Salina residents, and Joan was a homemaker and mother.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, her son, Carry in 2006, and her husband Dale in 2009.
Joan was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family to the fullest.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Becky (David) Birdsong, of Salina
Daughter in law: Sheryl Brooks, of Olathe
Three grandchildren: Heather (Ryan) Wiens, of Olathe
Brooke Birdsong, of Mission
Bret (Brandy) Birdsong, of Salina
Three great grandchildren: Kayden, Nicholas, and Paxtyn
Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2012 at 10:00 am at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Salina.
Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary on Sunday from noon until 8:00 pm where the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to her beloved home, Eaglecrest Assisted Living, Salina, or St. Johns Lutheran Church.
