Alvina M. Newell, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Aden) Grummert, was born on March 30, 1927 on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on December 19, 2012 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 19 days.
Alvina attended St. Pauls Lutheran School and was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hardy.
She was united in marriage to Earl Newell on August 11, 1944 in Belleville, Kansas and to this union 6 children were born.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an awesome cook and was specially known for her mashed potato donuts. She also worked outside the home at the Hilltop Cafe in Superior and the cafe in Republic, Kansas.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hardy and the LCW.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl January 1994; son James Newell, daughter-in-law Nancy Newell, sons-in-law Larry Persson and Darrell McCorkle, four brothers Ivan, Lloyd, Allen and Albert and two sisters Pauline Dorman and Clara Mahieu.
