C. Dorene (Prior) RietzkeC. Dorene (Prior) Rietzke, of Salina, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 11, 2013. She was born September 21, in Sylvia, Kansas, the daughter of Hugh Wade and Melvia Jane Prior, the sixth of eight children. Her father was a preacher and both parents instilled within her a deep love for the Lord.

Dorene graduated from Sylvia High School. She earned a degree in education from Fort Hays State College in Hays and taught for two years in Turon. She later taught in Kensington, Kansas for thirty years, most recently she taught in Salina at St. Johns Military School and tutored at the Teen Treatment Center.
Dorene fell in love with a handsome man she met on a blind date, Eldon Rietzke. The two were married in 1950 at the Hutchinson church of Christ by H.W. Prior, Dorenes father. They were blessed with three children, Tim, Tracy and Jill.

She was a dedicated, lifetime member of the church of Christ. Dorene loved the church, her family, the Jayhawks, and garage saling. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She watched all of their activities and was their greatest fan. She never left the house without lipstick and always remained young at heart.

Dorene was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and her husband of 60 years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Marilyn, of Coldwater, and Tracy and Cindy, of Kansas City, MO.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Randy Ptacek, of Mentor; a sister Myrna Dixon of Garland, TX, three sisters-in-law; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren
.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 14th 2013, at Salina Church of Christ, 1646 N. Ninth St., Salina 67401, followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. in Germantown Cemetery, near Kensington, KS.
