Ila E. Swanson, 89, Salina, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013. She was born March 14, 1923 in Bennington, Kansas to Ernest and Ola (Novis) Turner.
On July 14, 1944 she married Ernest V. Swanson.
She was a member of University United Methodist Church and was a well known quilter, displaying quilts at the Smoky Hill Museum. She also made ceramics, taught cooking classes, taught 4-H clubs, worked as a cook in elementary and high schools, and was a hard worker on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Olivia; a son, Clyde; a granddaughter Maria; and a grandson, Tony.

Granddaughter: Stephanie Robertson and husband Jeffrey
Three great-granddaughters: Ashlee Payne of Salina
Jilian Robertson of Salina
Hailee Robertson of Salina
There will be no visitation.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at University United Methodist Church, Salina, with Rev. Mike Rose officiating.
Private inurnment will be at a later date. |
