Ethlyn June Tacha, 91, formerly of Salina, died Sat. March 2, 2013 in Mt. Hope. She was born March 4, 1921 in Jennings, KS. The daughter of Everett & Emma (Wheelock) Bainter.
Ethlyn had been a designer at Dwight Putnams and Don Loaders in Salina. She was an active community member participating in projects, both public and private, that promoted community education and awareness of the need for equality. She took that compassion and dedication to her church where she and her family were active for many years. A self-taught seamstress, Ethlyn was making quilts for her family until she could no longer see to stitch.
Ethlyn is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Tacha (2008); a son, Thomas Craig Tacha; and a sister, Garrah Lillian Gaumer.
She is survived by:

Brother: Virgil Boyd Bainter, Hutchinson
Daughter-in-law: Martha (Carlisle) Tacha, Grand Island, NE
Seven grandchildren
One great granddaughter
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, March 9th at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave., in Salina.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Jennings, KS. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.
